Get to know the speakers and their topics below. \nGen AI – Opportunities and Challenges in Education\, by Professor Jim O’Mahony\nThis session will explore the emergence of technologies\, tools\, and platforms which are being shaped by generative AI. In particular\, we will highlight strategies for the safe and responsible adoption of generative AI as it pertains to teaching\, learning and assessment. We will look at how to manage security and privacy issues\, and what specific platforms and applications should be promoted as part of a modern teaching approach. \nProfessor Jim O’Mahony is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Munster Technological University (MTU). In addition\, Jim is the AI Lead for the Teaching and Learning Unit\, MTU Cork and Co-Chair of MTU’s Working Group on Generative Artificial Intelligence. He has served as a member of the National Advisory Group on Generative AI for the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning\, contributing to the strategic development of AI integration in Irish higher education\, and works with the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) to support school management teams in their work. \nJim specialises in making AI tools more accessible to educators and demonstrating their practical applications in enhancing student learning experiences. His expertise spans a range of AI platforms beyond Chat GPT and he is dedicated to exploring how technology can support education while keeping the work we do as educators very much human focused. \nJim produces the popular LinkedIn newsletter “AI Simplified – for Educators\,” sharing the latest tools\, tips\, and Gen AI platforms to help educators work better and smarter. \nCreating Classroom AI: From Concept to Student Use\, by Aitor Iriondo Pascual\nYou do not need to be an AI expert to encounter AI in education — but you do need to relate to it. How should AI be understood in the classroom\, where are its limits\, and what becomes possible when teachers and students move from using AI to creating it? The topic connects the broader educational questions around trust\, learning\, and technology with practical ways of building AI\, from beginner-friendly approaches to more advanced implementations in existing tools and workflows. In this way\, classroom AI becomes not only something to discuss\, but something to shape. \nAitor Iriondo Pascual holds a doctorate in informatics and is a researcher at the University of Skövde working at the intersection of artificial intelligence\, digital human modelling\, and industrial engineering. His work focuses on how AI can be used not only as a general-purpose assistant\, but also as a practical component in technical systems for education\, ergonomics\, and industrial optimization. He has experience with computer vision for pose estimation\, simulation-based multi-objective optimization using machine learning\, and the development of AI-supported tools that combine human expertise with automated analysis. His interest lies in making advanced AI understandable\, applicable\, and useful in real contexts for both students and professionals. \nRobust Tracking Algorithms for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s)\, by Dobrea Dan Marius\nIn several UAV guidance systems\, robust object tracking is a primary requirement. One of the primary goals of the different autopilot softwares (PX4\, ArduPilot or Betaflight) is to guide the UAV along a predefined trajectory based on GPS data. Furthermore\, various UAV systems employ alternative guidance systems that facilitate target tracking to enable (1) maneuvering within a defined formation for multiple UAVs\, (2) following and intercepting a moving system\, or (3) avoiding potential collisions. \nThis presentation will focus on a novel algorithm that addresses the conflicting requirements of real-time operation in a real\, complex environment on an embedded unit\, while enhancing detection performance and maintaining computational efficiency. \nThis presentation also advances the open-source ecosystem by disseminating a practical\, validated approach to real-time object tracking for UAVs\, grounded entirely in open-source software and hardware. \nDobrea Dan Marius received the Ph.D. from Gh. Asachi Technical University\, Faculty of Electronics\, Telecommunications & Information Technology\, in Iasi\, Romania\, in 2005\, and a habilitation in 2018. Dobrea Dan Marius is a professor in the Department of Applied Electronics and Intelligent Systems. His research interests include digital signal processing\, AI\, intelligent systems\, embedded systems\, UAVs\, sensors\, and IoT. The course is designed as a “Eureka game”\, inspired by the story of Archimedes. Its central aim is to develop functional solutions to nine real-life challenges provided by professional youth work partners. Students work in teams to design and prototype solutions using pedagogical approaches such as coding\, urban adventure games\, and educational escape rooms. Contact teaching is fully dedicated to collaborative\, game-based problem solving\, while theoretical backgrounds are studied in advance through pre-recorded materials in accordance with flipped learning pedagogy. The presentation introduces the pedagogical design of the course and reflects on practical experiences gained from implementing a flipped\, game-based model in youth work education. \nLaura Hokkanen is a Lecturer in the degree programme of Civic Activities and Youth Work at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences. Her main fields of teaching are art education\, media education and game education. Yet despite its central role\, assessment design often remains surprisingly under-theorised\, guided by tradition\, convenience\, or institutional habit rather than by clear conceptual frameworks\, discourse awareness\, or research-informed design principles. As this book argues\, assessment is not merely a tool for measuring learning or finding ways of detecting AI use. It is a pedagogical architecture that structures opportunities to demonstrate knowledge\, participate in disciplinary practices\, and develop academic identity.\nThe open access peer-reviewed Ebook we edited\, designed and authored entitled Inclusive Assessment Design in Higher Education: Feedback\, Partnership\, and AI-Supported Design addresses a significant gap in contemporary educational discourse. While universities increasingly speak about inclusion\, equity\, and innovation\, there remains a lack of coherent guidance on how these aspirations translate into concrete assessment design decisions. Many educators face practical questions for which the literature provides fragmented answers: How can assessment systems become genuinely inclusive without lowering intellectual standards? How can feedback move beyond commentary toward meaningful learning processes? How can assessment design respond constructively to the emergence of generative AI while preserving academic integrity and student agency?\nThis open access book responds to these challenges by bringing together theoretical insight\, pedagogical models\, and evidence-based case studies developed across the INGENIUM European University Alliance. A distinctive strength of this volume lies in its architecture. Developed collaboratively by the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara (Italy)\, the University of Rouen-Normandy (France) and the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (Romania)\, the project offers research-based and interdisciplinary learning in waste valorization\, catalysis\, CO2 capture\, and sustainable chemical processes. Designed for doctoral students and early-career professionals\, UP2Learn promotes transferable skills aligned with the European green and circular economy while strengthening educational cooperation within the INGENIUM Alliance.\nLucia Tonucci\, Francesca Coccia\, Ud’A; Kateryna Fatyeyeva\, URN; Stefano De Luca\, UNIOVI; Igor Cretescu\, Gabriela Socreanu\, Ramona Tataru\, TUIASI\n\n\n12:30-13:00 Living Landscape Lab\n\nLiving Landscape Lab is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the University of Oviedo and the University of Skövde that explores how rural landscapes can become living environments for learning. Building on the ConCiencia Histórica programme\, the project understands heritage not as a collection of sites or objects\, but as a dynamic relationship between places\, communities\, and knowledge.\nThrough collaboration with schools\, local communities and researchers\, the Lab co-design and test new educational approaches in which the landscape itself becomes the classroom. A digital learning environment will be designed not as an end in itself\, but as a tool to prepare\, support\, document\, and extend these place-based learning experiences. Building on the theoretical framework developed in that previous research project\, the new proposal\, led by Dr. Rayón\, is to create or adapt artwork by young student artists from Asturias\, Spain\, using digital tools such as 3D scanning and printing\, while taking into account the inclusion criteria developed at the University of Pescara. This proposal is also complemented by work on games and storytelling developed by the PlayLab at the University of Skövde\, which will organize a game jam based on the artworks created in Spain and working within the inclusion criteria developed in Italy. This will bring the proposal to a close\, culminating in an exhibition that overcomes as many barriers as possible\, making it accessible to everyone without exception.\nLars Kristensen\, HIS; Emilio Rossi\, UdA; Beatriz Rayón\, UNIOVI\n\n\n12.30-13:00 Complementarity of experimental and modelling approaches for designing a safe reactor: creation and design of collaborative course\n\nChemical Engineering Bachelor of Technology program at University of Rouen RN focuses on Quality\, Environment\, and Process Safety control. Particularly\, the safety of chemical reactions and pressurized reactors is studied using calorimetric equipments. This process safety topic is also taught at HKA. The modeling of safety devices to size them\, predict their behavior\, and optimise their use is emphasized. The process safety aspects of each university appear complementary.
