SUMMARY:Sustainable Development in My Future Profession
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable development is part of every profession\, but what does it mean specifically for your (future) job?\nXamk’s short survey is part of the INGENIUM’s Sustainability Week. Take a moment to reflect on how sustainable development manifests in your own field and what opportunities you have to make a difference as a future professional.\nLink to the survey: Sustainable Development in My Future Profession -survey \nThe survey is already open and you can leave your responses until 1 November. \nWe are also visiting Xamk’s campuses to collect responses after the actual sustainability week. Come meet people who are working with INGENIUM and take part in our survey: \n\nMikkeli: D Lobby\, 26 October\, at 12:30–14:30 Finnish time\, hosted by Anna Forsström\nKotka: Library landing\, 27 October\, at 11:00–13:00Finnish time\, hosted by Laura Arminen\nKouvola: Main Building Lobby\, 27 October\, 11:00–13:00 Finnish time\, hosted by Siru Kivinen

Students work in international and interdisciplinary teams throughout the programme: \n\nDesigning\, building and testing a 3D structural model on a shaking table\nPerforming numerical simulations and comparing predictions with experimental seismic responses\nApplying iterative design refinement based on experimental feedback\n\nSpecial emphasis is placed on systems thinking and critical analysis\, supported by interactive demonstrations\, live laboratory experiments\, and poster presentations. \nCompetences you will develope\n\nStructural dynamics and earthquake engineering: degrees of freedom\, stiffness\, damping\, equation of motion\, natural frequencies\, modal shapes\nSeismic design principles and modern structural protection strategies (ductile design\, energy dissipation devices\, adaptive systems — TLD\, TMD — and base isolation)\nExperiential and hands-on learning: physical models\, laboratory experiments and shaking-table tests\nSystems thinking and societal awareness: seismic performance in the wider built environment\nInternational and intercultural collaboration: knowledge exchange and professional networking across INGENIUM institutions\nCritical thinking: evaluating design choices\, interpreting experimental results and comparing engineering strategies\nTransversal skills: communication\, dissemination\, and collaborative teamwork\n\nLearning Outcomes\nAfter successful completion of the BIP\, students will be able to: \n\nLO1.
