Innovation Title“From Emotions to Action: Shaping Healthier Learning Spaces”
Novelty of Innovation

The workshop introduces a novel fusion of emotional literacy and creative innovation processes within higher education settings. Instead of treating emotional awareness as an isolated skill, this workshop transforms it into an active driver for co-creation and positive change. Students are not only encouraged to express emotions but also to analyze them systematically and design meaningful interventions addressing real emotional challenges. The use of emotion mapping in an academic context is innovative, offering students a visual and reflective tool to understand emotional patterns in their daily experiences. Combined with Design Thinking methodology, this emotional data becomes the foundation for ideating, prototyping, and testing tangible solutions for improving well-being. This approach empowers students as active agents of change rather than passive recipients of support strategies. It also introduces a technology-integrated participatory learning model, leveraging digital collaborative platforms (e.g., Miro, Padlet, Mural) for real-time interaction, creative brainstorming, and remote or hybrid teamwork. Socio-emotional learning is blending with innovation-driven, participatory processes, where empathy becomes a tool for design and action. It offers a scalable, adaptable model that can be easily transferred across disciplines and institutions, enriching both academic curriculla and student life programs.

Concept Synopsis

This workshop combines emotional awareness with creative problem-solving through Design Thinking. Participants begin by creating individual and collective "emotion maps" that visually capture their emotional experiences within their learning environment. These maps help identify emotional challenges and positive touchpoints in their academic and social life. Participants work collaboratively in small teams, using Design Thinking principles (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test) to develop concrete solutions aimed at improving student well-being. These solutions could include awareness campaigns, peer support initiatives, micro-interventions for classrooms, or prototypes of digital tools. Technology such as collaborative digital platforms (Miro, Padlet, Mural) will be used for real-time mapping, brainstorming, and solution design, fostering an engaging and participatory learning environment.
Outcomes:
Enhance students' self-awareness and emotional literacy.
Foster collaborative problem-solving skills through Design Thinking.
Empower students to co-create solutions that positively impact well-being within their learning communities.
Develop transferable skills such as empathy, creativity, teamwork, and digital collaboration.
Produce practical outputs (campaigns, actions, prototypes) that can be further developed or implemented.
Encourage scalable practices adaptable to other educational and cultural contexts across INGENIUM universities.
