Climate Fresk: The World’s Largest Climate Education Event – Connected Across Europe
On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences will host an extraordinary record-setting event: the world’s largest Climate Fresk workshop, organized as part of the INGENIUM European University Alliance. With the ambitious goal of setting up a new Guiness World Record by engaging over 1,800 participants on-site, the event aims to raise awareness of the urgent challenges posed by climate change while sending a powerful, united message for global climate protection.
A Europe-Wide Climate Action Day
This event will not stand alone. Across Europe, other Climate Fresk workshops will take place on the same day as part of a coordinated international effort. By connecting these parallel events, participants from Karlsruhe will join thousands of others in a continent-wide network dedicated to learning, collaboration, and climate action. Together, these activities will amplify the message that climate awareness and sustainable action transcend borders.
What is Climate Fresk?
Climate Fresk is a groundbreaking educational tool that uses a collaborative “climate puzzle” approach to reveal the complex scientific relationships behind climate change. Participants piece together the causes, consequences, and dynamics of the climate crisis. This hands-on approach not only builds understanding but also empowers people to envision solutions and take meaningful action.
What makes Climate Fresk unique is its combination of scientific rigor and engaging, interactive learning methods. Based on the latest findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the workshop transforms abstract data into a clear, visual, and collective experience. By encouraging teamwork and discussion, it helps participants develop both knowledge and the motivation to act.
Goals of the Event
The mission behind this world record attempt is to unite and engage people on an unprecedented scale. By mobilizing more than 1,800 participants in Karlsruhe alone, and connecting them with parallel events across Europe, the organizers aim to create an extraordinary collective learning experience and demonstrate the power of international collaboration in tackling the climate emergency.
Experience and Previous Successes
The organizing team brings extensive experience. One of the project’s initiators, a board member for education at Climate Fresk Deutschland e.V., has already facilitated numerous large-scale Climate Fresk workshops, some involving over 200 participants. Building on this expertise, the 2025 event is set to raise the bar for collaborative climate education.
