Europe’s Next Joint Academic Offers Start Now. Be One of the Educators shaping them

The INGENIUM European University Alliance invites all academic staff and programme coordinators across its 10 partner institutions to join in shaping transformative academic offers that will define the future of higher education within our community.

This 2025 Joint Academic Offers initiative aims to foster collaborative education across INGENIUM universities, creating new opportunities for students and faculty alike. The call is particularly targeted to support the implementation of collaboration ideas initiated by INGENIUM initiatives like the Education Labs, Staff Academy, and INGENIUM Research Groups.

Types of Proposals

We encourage proposals for a wide range of joint and innovative academic offerings.

By leveraging the collective strengths of our alliance, we seek to provide students with a distinct international learning experience, individualized study pathways, and increased flexibility to build transnational and interdisciplinary curricula.

All disciplines are welcome, and academics are warmly encouraged to bring forward their ideas and expertise to co-develop the next generation of INGENIUM educational programmes.

Objectives of the Call

This call is designed to accelerate the development of joint academic offerings that embody INGENIUM’s vision of a connected European campus.

Proposed projects should promote:

collaborative learning,
student mobility and international exposure,
innovative pedagogies,
and alliance-wide collaboration.

Whether you are developing a full joint degree programme or experimenting with a collaborative course, the initiative offers support to help turn these ideas into reality.

For Education Lab teams, Staff Academy Participants, Research Groups and other existing collaboration networks, this is a unique opportunity to transform their cooperation into academic components.

Together, we will shape a future-oriented academic offer that enriches our students’ learning and strengthens the integration of our alliance.

Who is this call for?

This call is open to academic staff (faculty, lecturers, programme directors, etc.) from all INGENIUM partner universities.

Each proposal should have a designated lead coordinator (or coordinating team) and mention the key academic personnel involved from each partner.

We encourage inclusion of early-career academics and diverse teams in proposal consortia. In addition, while student participation in designing the offers is not mandatory, we welcome involvement of students or student associations as partners, especially in collaborative teaching initiatives, as it can strengthen the proposal’s relevance and innovative character.

Application Structure & Timeline

To maximize participation and facilitate partnership-building, the application will proceed in two stages: an Expression of Interest (Stage 1) followed by a Full Application (Stage 2).

Stage 1 – Expression of Interest

Individuals or teams with a project idea are encouraged to submit a short Expression of Interest (EOI) by 30 November 2025.

The EOI is a brief outline of your idea and needs – it can be used to find additional partners within the alliance or to get early feedback.

Note: If you already have an existing collaboration or pilot project that you intend to turn into a joint offer, you may submit a short confirmation of this by the EOI deadline (to inform us of your forthcoming proposal and allow us to provide any support needed).

Matchmaking Support

INGENIUM will actively support networking activities between Stage 1 and Stage 2. After the EOI deadline, the alliance will facilitate matchmaking and team formation by connecting individuals and groups with complementary ideas or looking for partners.

This may include online networking sessions, sharing of EOI summaries among interested staff, and opportunities to meet potential collaborators through the INGENIUM platform. Our aim is to help you build strong transnational teams for the full proposal.

Stage 2 – Full Application

The Full Application is the complete proposal. The Full Application will require a detailed description of the joint offer (including objectives, participating institutions, target students, format and activities, implementation timeline, and how it meets the call criteria). Further guidance on the application format will be provided to all who submit an EOI and will be available on the INGENIUM website.

Deadline: All full proposals must be submitted by the 11th of January 2026.

Evaluation and Selection

All Full Applications submitted by the deadline will be evaluated in early 2026 by the respective Committees. Proposals will be assessed on their academic quality, level of innovation, feasibility, alignment with INGENIUM objectives, and the extent of collaboration/mobility involved. We expect to announce the selected proposals and provide feedback by late January 2026.

Priority consideration will be given to proposals that build on existing pilot collaborations or that closely align with INGENIUM’s strategic priorities (for example, addressing key thematic areas or innovative educational goals identified by the alliance – see below). Applications in those cases will be accepted in a rolling basis.

Implementation Timeline

The implementation timeline differs for each of the collaboration types, but in all cases, the objective is to initiate implementation in September 2026. Selected joint offers will begin development and implementation from early 2026 onward.

Some fast-track projects (especially those in the “Existing Collaborations” category) may be able to launch for the 2026/2027 academic year. Programmes in this category will be prioritised and approved on a rolling basis. Programmes may also apply even if they need more time to start implementation (AY 2027/2028).

The INGENIUM team will work with each selected team to finalize timelines, ensure quality standards are met, and coordinate alliance-level support.

Support & Funding

Alliance Support

INGENIUM is committed to helping all successful proposals through both financial support and administrative guidance.

1. Matchmaking and Networking

As noted, we will facilitate partner search and idea development for interested applicants during the EOI stage. Don’t hesitate to use these opportunities to strengthen your project – collaborative proposals are at the heart of this initiative.

2. Administrative and Technical Guidance

INGENIUM’s central team and relevant working groups (e.g. the Academic Committee and Research School Board for PhD programs) will provide hands-on assistance to implement your project. This may include:

Advising on curriculum integration and ECTS compatibility across institutions.
Sharing templates and best practices for joint degree agreements, consortium contracts, and quality assurance frameworks.
Connecting you with legal/administrative contacts at each university (registrars, international offices) to navigate accreditation procedures and student enrollment processes.
Providing evaluation frameworks to help assess the success of your joint offer and gather data (important for showcasing the impact of the alliance).

3. Visibility and Recognition

All approved Joint Academic Offers will be recognized as official INGENIUM alliance activities. They will be showcased on the INGENIUM website and communications, giving your initiative visibility at the European level. Graduates of joint degree programs may receive an INGENIUM certificate or diploma supplement signed by all partner institutions, in addition to their degree certificate, to certify their participation in an alliance programme. This recognition will add value to the student experience and the reputation of the programme.

Funding

The alliance has set aside dedicated funds to support the development and implementation of Joint Academic Offers. This includes covering some costs such as:

Travel and accommodation for planning meetings between partner universities (for curriculum design, coordination, etc.). The exact allocation shall depend on each partner’s institutional policies and available budget.
Organizing workshops or webinars for faculty teams to develop course content or share best practices.
Mobility support for academic staff exchanges and visiting lectures related to the project (to jump-start co-teaching arrangements).
In the case of BIPs or other short programmes, support for logistical costs not covered by Erasmus+ (e.g. materials for the short programme, minor costs for social events during a physical week, etc.).
Student mobility support where needed (supplementing Erasmus+ grants if applicable) to ensure students can participate in the new offers.

The implementation of the INGENIUM Joint Education Offer will be supported by the INGENIUM Scholarship System, currently under design.

While we do not expect proposals to include detailed budgets at the application stage, you may indicate any foreseen special resource needs. Funding will be allocated to selected projects based on scope and needs, and is subject to availability.

The typical scale of funding is intended as seed money or co-funding – teams are encouraged to also leverage existing Erasmus+ programmes (for mobility, BIPs, etc.) and any national or institutional funding where possible. Each selected project will be informed of the specific support package available to it.

Exclusions

Activities already fully funded by other EU programmes (e.g. an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master that already has funding for 2025-2027) are not the focus of this call, unless you are seeking top-up support or alliance recognition to enhance sustainability beyond existing funding. The call’s funding is meant for development and pilot implementation, not long-term core financing of programmes; however, being part of INGENIUM can strengthen future funding applications externally.

Practical Information

💡Multiple Submissions

There is no limit to the number of proposals a university or individual can be involved in, but bear in mind the capacity to actively contribute to each if many are selected. We aim for a balanced portfolio of projects across institutions and disciplines. Synergies between proposals are also encouraged (for example, if two proposals emerge on complementary topics, we may suggest merging or cooperation during the evaluation).

💡Application tips

In preparing your proposal, please be clear and specific about your goals, and ensure you have discussed the idea with the relevant departments/faculties at your institutions for buy-in. It’s advisable to contact your university’s INGENIUM coordinators or local offices. Pay attention to how your idea benefits students (e.g. new learning outcomes, international exposure) and how it adds value beyond what each university could do alone. Review the INGENIUM strategic documents or past initiatives if available, to frame your proposal in the context of our alliance’s values (e.g. inclusivity, digital innovation, sustainability).

Frequently asked questions

Q: I am already involved in an INGENIUM Research Group or Education Lab Project, am I still eligible to apply?

Yes, you are very welcome to apply for the 2025 Joint Academic Offers Call for Proposals. It is possible to use synergies that were created through either of the other initiatives or you can submit new proposals.

Q: Can I submit several Expressions of Interest?

Yes, if you have more than one idea you are welcome to propose them all. If your ideas are for different pillars of the call, you can submit them all at once. If you have several ideas for one pillar, please complete the Expression of Interest form as many times as you have ideas.

Q: How can I find a suitable partner for my proposal?

All pillars of the call have dedicated thematic areas allocated in the Expression of Interest form. These topics are bundled together in five matchmaking sessions (view the events calendar for details) and each proposal is being asked to pitch their idea during one of these sessions.

The webinars are distributed widely throughout the partner universities and potential partners are being invited. Following the pitches, there will be breakout rooms for further discussions and potential matchmaking.

Moreover, we will make the Expressions of Interest available on the INGENIUM Website.

Q: I am not available during the allocated webinar for my proposal. What should I do?

You have several options:

You can ask a colleague to present on your behalf.
You can make a short video (max. 5 minutes) where you pitch your idea and we will show it during the webinar.
You can present during a related webinar as often the thematic areas overlap and are related.

Q: How much funding is available for my proposal?

Funding options need to be discussed with the local INGENIUM Partner Coordinator.

Q: What happens after I submit the information on my local course for the INGENIUM Course Catalogue?

Your submission for the INGENIUM Course Catalogue will be forward to a colleague at your institution who will reach out to you directly to discuss the next steps. The course must be added manually to the INGENIUM Course Catalogue. You will work closely with your colleague to provide all information necessary and to discuss the next steps, e.g. the enrollment of students.
