Boost Your Language Skills with INGENIUM: Pre-Mobility Courses & Tandems

As part of INGENIUM’s strategic commitment to Multiculturalism and Multilingualism (WP9.3), Language Centre Directors and Course Coordinators met in November 2025 at the university of Rouen Normandy and created the INGENIUM Language Network (ILANET).

ILANET is already operational, having launched a series of pre-mobility languages courses alongside a brand-new linguistic tandem programme. Together, these initiatives aim to enhance the alliance-wide offering in languages and cultures for both students and staff. These tools support international mobility, foster intercultural dialogue, and promote the development of strong multilingual competences across all 10 partner universities.

Prepare for Mobility: “A Taste of” Courses

Starting in January, INGENIUM students and staff can enrol in “A Taste of” pre-mobility courses. These modules will be available on the alliance’s online learning platform throughout the year.

These short, accessible courses introduce participants to the languages and cultures of INGENIUM countries, offering a practical first step towards a successful international experience.

Connect and Learn: Linguistic Tandems

To complement these courses, ILANET has designed a Linguistic Tandem Programme. These initiatives offer participants, students and staff the opportunity to practice languages in a real intercultural context through reciprocal peer learning.

These initiatives are core to INGENIUM’s vision: fostering multilingual competence, intercultural understanding, and mobility readiness. By combining structured learning (pre-mobility courses) with real-life practice (tandems), ILANET ensures that students and staff are not just prepared to travel: they are equipped to engage, communicate, and thrive across cultures.
