INGENIUM Stands United with 35 European University Alliances in Support of Ukraine
On the occasion of Europe Day, the INGENIUM University Alliance proudly joined 35 European university alliances in signing an open letter, “United in Solidarity with Higher Education and Research in Ukraine”, released in Strasbourg. This statement reaffirms our collective commitment to supporting Ukrainian universities, students, and academics facing challenges since the Russian full-scale invasion in February 2022.
INGENIUM is dedicated to promoting excellence, openness, and innovation, and stands ready to support collaboration with Ukrainian higher education institutions. The letter highlights that 35 of the 65 alliances engage Ukrainian partners in initiatives like digital education, interdisciplinary programmes, and flexible learning pathways.
Through this letter, INGENIUM and fellow alliances urge the EU and its Member States to strengthen support for Ukraine’s higher education sector, especially for displaced universities. We advocate for education and research to be central to Ukraine’s resilience and reconstruction, as outlined in the Ukraine Facility Plan. We also call for flexible use of Erasmus+ funding to involve Ukrainian partners in alliance activities, sharing best practices to enhance our joint goals.
INGENIUM remains committed to building balanced partnerships and supporting Ukraine’s path to EU integration.
