Sustainable Energy Systems

The aim of the research activities carried out in the Laboratory ” Sustainable Energy Systems” is represented by the latest trends worldwide regarding changing the type and characteristics of primary resources (use of renewable resources and distributed generation), the increase in the demand for high reliability of supply service, power quality and the emergence of Smart Grids. The laboratory holds a physical simulator that is one of the most complex systems used in the research activities of the events from the power systems and a modern computer grid with professional simulation software packages. The main research topics are associated with renewable sources integration on the electric networks; integrated management solutions for energy sources; state estimation of electric networks using phasor measurements units (PMU); increasing energy efficiency in electric networks; smart load management strategies to save energy; design and implementation of smart energy distribution management with renewable sources.
