INGENIUM launches a new faculty development course supporting academic staff in redesigning assessment for inclusive, ethical, and AI-informed higher education.
“Rethinking Inclusive Assessment in Higher Education: Assessment as Learning in the Age of AI” equips participants to critically examine current assessment practices and redesign them using inclusive pedagogies, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and responsible integration of Generative AI. The course is developed within the Educational Lab project “Rethinking Assessment and Feedback for Inclusive Learning amid Contemporary Challenges”,
led by the University of Crete in collaboration with:
Munster Technological University (MTU),
Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (TUIASI),
South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK),
University of Rouen Normandy (URN),
University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara (UdA),
Medical University – Sofia (MUS).

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Analyse contemporary assessment practices in higher education
- Distinguish between summative, formative, participatory, and assessment-as-learning models
- Design transparent, student-centred assessment tasks
- Apply UDL principles to assessment design
- Evaluate the pedagogical and ethical implications of AI-supported assessment and feedback
- Develop sustainable feedback and feed-forward systems
- Conduct and document a small-scale action research project on assessment redesign
