Strengthening Multilingualism and Multiculturalism across the alliance through an INGENIUM Language Network
Last week, 13-14 November, the Language Centre Directors and Course Coordinators from all 10 INGENIUM partner universities concluded a two-day meeting at Université de Rouen Normandie, dedicated to shaping the future of language and culture learning within the Alliance.
Our INGENIUM Director, Ana Isabel Álvarez González, and URN VP for International Relations and European Alliance, Eric Dargent, opened the meeting focussing discussions on:
- building a strong and collaborative network of linguists across INGENIUM,
- developing a shared approach to language and culture courses,
- and how us as an alliance can further promote multilingualism and multicultural understanding within our community.
Juan Rayon, INGENIUM’s Strategic Manager, also joined, providing his technical input on how best to proceed in developing such a framework.
An INGENIUM Language Network & a Common Platform for Intensive Language Courses
The Alliance partners united around the idea of creating a common platform to share intensive language courses for staff and students participating in mobility, first before the mobility to increase their language level, and later during the mobility to promote social integration and intercultural awareness.
Through presentations and brainstorming sessions, participants outlined the foundations of an INGENIUM Language Network to foster cooperation across all INGENIUM partner universities, and a draft of the network mission statement was developed.
A heartfelt thank you to Université de Rouen Normandie for hosting such a productive and inspiring meeting — and to all participants for their commitment to a multilingual and multicultural INGENIUM.
