The first INGENIUM Joint Programme: EU4M

The INGENIUM European University is proud to announce that the Erasmus Mundus Master´s programme in Mechatronic Engineering (EU4M) involving 3 INGENIUM partners has been granted funding from the European Commission for the next 72 months. A key step towards the joint educational objectives of the alliance!

Four Universities – One Programme

The Joint Master Degree Programme is promoted by a well-integrated partnership, fully supported by four partner universities (the University of Oviedo (UniOvi), Spain, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), Germany, the University of Skövde (HiS), Sweden, and the National Engineering Institute in Mechanics and Microtechnologies (SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM), France), and supported by further 23 associated partners located in France, Germany, Spain, USA, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Colombia and other countries around the world.

EU4M builds on 10 years of experience gathered with the Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Mechatronics (2008-2015) and the EU4M Joint Master Degree (2016- 2020).  The programme is now reinforced by the participation of three INGENIUM partners, and it will support the internationalisation of the INGENIUM European University beyond Europe’s borders.

In its evaluation, the European Commission highlighted the important added value brought by the belonging of most partners to a European University. It emphasized how this will contribute to foster the modernisation and internationalisation strategies of the institutions, in line with INGENIUM´s joint educational objectives.

One Programme – Several Degrees

The EU4M Joint Master Degree comprises 120 ECTS to be taken in two consecutive academic years. In the first year, the four degree awarding institutions will be offering the same academic programme in four different languages (Spanish, German, French and English) to provide students with the same level of preparation. Afterwards, in the second year, students will move to one or two of the other partner or associate institutions, in order to complete the required mobility periods.

EU4M students will receive a degree from each of the universities where they have spent the first and second year of study. The Consortium will award a Joint Master Degree in Mechatronics Engineering by the four universities.

With this Master course we respond to the substantial increase in demand for engineers in industry all over the world. The qualifications and education objectives of this Master’s course are fundamental and constitute the elements of our higher education for Mechatronics Engineers who will be able to work as specialists, as systems managers or as coordinators in interdisciplinary and international project teams in research and/or industry.

The INGENIUM alliance is committed to the creation of an inter-university European Campus based on open degrees and courses, joint programmes, and microcredentials. This Joint Master´s Programme will not only build on the long-lasting collaboration by the partners, but also allow them to increase the quality and impact of the programme thanks to the framework provided by the alliance.
