TUIASI Students Advance INGENIUM Goals on Inclusivity and Wellbeing at 2025 BEST Symposium
From July 11th to 24th 2025, BEST Iași (Board of European Students of Technology) student organization and Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (TUIASI) proudly co-hosted the BEST 2025 International Symposium. This major event brought together a diverse group of international students from Europe, alongside their Romanian peers, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of innovation and collaboration.
A Crucial Theme: “Breaking Barriers with STEM: The Future of Inclusive Education”
The symposium tackled a critically important topic in today’s educational landscape: “Breaking Barriers with STEM: The Future of Inclusive Education.” Participants delved into interdisciplinary approaches to enhance accessibility and inclusivity within educational environments, leveraging innovative solutions from the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
This year’s Symposium objectives were perfectly aligned with the mission of the INGENIUM Alliance on Social Inclusion and Wellbeing, tackling through discussions and practical activities, subjects like: strengthening social inclusion, promoting responsible use of digital technology, and improving health within academia with a particular focus on actively involving students from marginalized groups.
The Result: A Commitment to INGENIUM’s Objectives on Inclusivity & Wellbeing
One of the symposium’s most significant outcomes was the development of three detailed reports: “Social Inclusion Implementations,” “Digital Tools and Monitoring,” and “Health Aspects of Inclusion.” These reports provide a comprehensive analysis and propose a concrete action plan for the future. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants highlights the event’s remarkable success and their eagerness to engage in similar STEM initiatives moving forward.
The three guides developed as outcomes of the event complement the existing INGENIUM frameworks and emphasize student-driven contributions:
- Health Aspects of Inclusion – a student-focused guide that identifies inclusivity challenges in the academic environment and proposes concrete action plans to address them. It complements the INGENIUM guidelines with insights tailored to student experiences.
- Social Inclusion Implementations – a guide that builds upon the definitions, frameworks, and strategies outlined in the original INGENIUM Guide, offering expanded perspectives and implementation pathways.
- Digital Tools and Monitoring – a practical guide for INGENIUM universities, focusing on how digital technologies and monitoring tools can support the successful execution of the alliance’s three Action Plans, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity.
While the symposium successfully reinforced the students’ standing as active promoters of international social inclusion through innovative use of digital tools and continuous development within the academic sphere, it also showcased TUIASI’s commitment to providing open, innovative, and high-quality higher education within the INGENIUM Alliance.
