An INGENIUM initiative towards Sustainable Development

INGENIUM students and staff have participated from 18-22 November to the first Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility School that was organized in the University of Crete.

Mr.Manasakis Constantinos, Associate Professor, Political Science, UoC, has introduced INGENIUM participants to the sustainable development and corporate responsibility aspects pointing why leaders of public and private organizations need to replace previously single-discipline approaches with multidisciplinary ones while they are expected to lead with empathy and emotional intelligence.

This innovative school, focused on the need of reformulation of the relationship between business, society and nature as the sustainable development and corporate responsibility are essential aspects of business operations in today’s global economy.

INGENIUM partners faced the fundamental current challenge: “How to materialize the transition to an environmentally and socially sustainable economic model?” through multidisciplinary scientific lenses from the three pillars of sustainable development: environment – society – economy.

Those five days school led PhD and MSc students to develop a critical understanding of the nature, drivers and trajectories of sustainable development. The INGENIUM partners Robert Ludgate, Munster Technological University, Ioannis Arzoumanidis, University G. d’Annunzio, Pescara and Ignacio Tascón Amo, University of Oviedo have presented their case studies contributing to explore the role of of business and its relationship to environmental, societal and development challenges.

INGENIUM Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility School was hosted in the University Campus in Voutes and in HUB 2 Business, an ecosystem for startup business.
