The University of Crete (UoC) is a modern, public educational institution active in a wide range of disciplines and fields of research, with international presence, contribution, and recognition. The Schools of Philosophy, Education, Social, Economical & Political Sciences are sited on the UoC Gallos Campus in Rethymnon. The Voutes Campus in Heraklion is home to the School of Sciences & Engineering and the School of Medicine, as well as several affiliated research-oriented infrastructures and facilities.
UoC has more than 20.000 undergraduates and 3500 postgraduates students registered while the outward-looking academic staff numbers 570 members, supported by adjunct lectures, post-doctoral researchers, laboratory staff and instructors.
