The University of Skövde
The University of Skövde is a knowledge hub set in a historical area between the two largest lakes in Sweden. You can easily reach Skövde by train, within two hours from Stockholm and from Gothenburg it is an hour’s journey.
The University has an open and welcoming atmosphere, first-class education and internationally competitive research. Education and research are conducted in selected areas. Within these areas, ambitions are set high in order for the University to be the apparent source of knowledge for a digitised and sustainable future.
Today, research and education are conducted in the fields of Bioscience, Informatics, Business, Health Sciences and Engineering. Doctoral studies domains are Informatics and Digital Health which are our two academic pillars. One is on digital technology and digitisation. The University is a centrepiece of one of Europe’s largest and broadest game education hubs, where over 600 people study Game Development. The second academic pillar is people’s conditions for living in a digitised world in a sustainable way. The University is also one of five worldwide Preferred Research Partners of Volvo Group.
The University of Skövde was founded in 1977 and is a state authority under the Swedish Ministry of Education. We offer 60 study programmes. Four of these are international programmes on Bachelor’s level, 21 at Master’s level, and two are postgraduate educations. The University is close to the city centre and has around 550 employees, both in research, teaching and administrative functions. The number of students is approximately 10,300, of which 350 are international students.
