Internship on Creativity and Executive Function in Sensorimotor context for Inclusion

Context

This internship proposed at the University of Rouen Normandie in France is part of a broader research program CREFSIN (« Creativity and Executive Function in Sensorimotor context for Inclusion »), led by Dr. F. BITU inside the INGENIUM European alliance, in collaboration with the Universities of Crete, Chieti, and Oviedo. This program is rooted in an international inclusive school context and aims at understanding interactions between creativity, executive functions and sensorimotricity in neurotypically developing children and in children presenting neurodevelopmental disorders. The team taking part in this project in Rouen is composed of two researchers and a PhD student.

Objectives & Outcomes

Research objectives: 
The research followed by this European program aims at investigating the development of, and interrelations between, creativity, cognition (specifically, executive functions), and sensorimotor components.

  • The internships proposed aims to contribute on important and very actual research questions, such as:
  • What neuro-cognitive and developmental models could describe the relationship between creativity, cognition, and sensorimotor skills?
  • How do creativity, cognitive functions and sensorimotor skills evolve and interact throughout the typical development of children?
  • How these three components work together in children with neurodevelopmental disorders?

Main tasks: 
During the internship, the student will be given the opportunity to work on:

  • Literature reviews on the mentioned topics;
  • Experimental settings with typical and atypical children;
  • Data collection;
  • Data analysis;
  • Depending on the duration of the internship: participation in article writing & communications in congress.

Benefits

Allowance: 4.35€ / h. In compliance with French regulation for paid internships.

Information: The paid internship does not cover expanses related to travel and accomodation. Eligible for an Erasmus+ funding covering travel and accommodation. You need to apply for a Erasmus+ mobility at your home University for this.

Student Profile

Required education level: At least 3 years of studies in the mentioned field.

Field of study: A strong background in Psychology, Education, Cognitive Sciences or other fields related to the main topic of the project.

Skills:

  • Good knowledge of the related fields, with at least notions in one of the mentioned keywords (creativity, executive functions, and/or sensorimotricity)
  • Autonomy, rigor, and reliability.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiatives and work collaboratively.
  • Previous experience and/or a willingness to work with children.
  • High degree of flexibility (variable hours and tasks).

Language skills: Good reading abilities in English.
