About the upcoming edition
Junior and Senior Summer Schools, Staff Academy and Staff Meetings
Twice a year the INGENIUM European University organizes the alliance’s biggest event, 10 Days of INGENIUM, where students and staff from all the partner universities meet face-to-face to work together, exchange ideas and share best practices.
The upcoming seventh and final edition of 10 Days of INGENIUM will take place in May-June 2026 and will be hosted by Munster Technological University, in Cork, Irland and Меdical University Sofia, in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The main themes of this summer edition are centered upon:
- Research for sustainable development and societal impact
- Innovation and entrepreneurship as drivers of real-world solutions
- Interdisciplinary and international collaboration within the INGENIUM Alliance
- Student-centred and innovative teaching methodologies
- Stronger connections between research, education, and working life
- Blended and digital learning approaches in higher education.
Who will participate?
Junior & Senior Schools relate to students enrolled in bachelor, master, and doctoral studies from partner universities. The academic staff is joining as well to meet and act as mentors, trainers, keynote lecturers and participants in the Staff Academy sessions.
Is it international?
Yes it is! The event will bring together students, academic and administrative staff from the INGENIUM partner universities: Italy, Romania, Germany, Bulgaria, Ireland, Finland, Greece, Spain, France and Sweden.
What else is to know?
The event has on-site and hybrid activities that will allow the participants to be involved and gather the information they are interested in such as: Workshops, Team buildings, Outdoor activities, Informal networking and cultural activities.
Junior Summer School
Health Promotion in the New Era
This edition of INGENIUM Junior Summer School is organized by the Medical university–Sofia, Bulgaria, under the theme “Health promotion in the new era”.
As part of the INGENIUM European University, which brings together 10 universities to collaborate on various fronts, this event offers a unique opportunity for bachelor students to engage with peers and staff from across Europe.
The event will be organized in the form of two Blended Intensive Programmes:
The BIP “AI and Labour Market Transformation” is designed for undergraduate students interested in understanding how artificial intelligence is reshaping the world of work, employment structures, and required skills across industries and societies. Key topics include:
- The impact of AI and automation on employment and job quality;
- Emerging professions and skills in the digital economy;
- AI adoption across sectors such as manufacturing, services, and public administration;
- Inequality, inclusion, and the future of work;
- Ethical, legal, and policy challenges related to AI in the workplace.
The BIP “Emergency Medicine in a Changing World” is designed for undergraduate students interested in the evolving challenges of emergency healthcare in a rapidly changing global context. The programme addresses how demographic shifts, technological innovation, climate change, global health threats, and societal transformations are reshaping emergency medicine and acute care systems worldwide. Key topics include:
- Emergency care in the context of climate change, disasters, and extreme events;
- Digital technologies and innovation in emergency medicine (telemedicine, AI-supported diagnostics, decision support systems);
- Preparedness and response to pandemics and global health emergencies;
- Emergency medicine in ageing and diverse populations;
- Ethical, legal, and organizational challenges in emergency healthcare.

Applications are managed locally by each INGENIUM partner university. However, all applications must be submitted through the INGENIUM School Platform.
Nominated students register for the summer school for ONLY one BIP.

Senior Summer School
Enabling Research for Impact
Munster Technological University organizes the final edition of the INGENIUM Senior Summer School under the thematic “Enabling Research for Impact” on 25–29 May 2026 in Cork.
The INGENIUM European University welcomes Master’s students, PhD candidates, academic staff, mentors and industry experts to MTU’s Cork campus this May. For five days, participants will engage in interdisciplinary workshops, collaborative activities, and interactive sessions focused on Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The programme will explore how research can be translated into meaningful societal, environmental and economic impact.
During the INGENIUM Senior Summer School 2026, participants will examine how research drives sustainable development, fosters innovation, and supports entrepreneurial thinking across disciplines. Through group work and dialogue with academics and professionals from across Europe, they will explore practical pathways for transforming research outcomes into real-world solutions.
In addition to the academic programme, participants will take part in networking and cultural activities in Cork, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and long-lasting connections within the INGENIUM European University alliance.
Competences to be acquired:
- The ability to critically evaluate research outcomes and assess their potential societal, environmental, and economic impact.
- Understanding the principles of sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship across disciplines.
- The ability to collaborate effectively in international and interdisciplinary teams.
- The capacity to translate research findings into practical, real-world applications.
- The ability to analyse innovation ecosystems and identify opportunities for research-driven impact.
- The capacity to communicate research ideas clearly to academic, professional, and non-academic audiences.

Staff Academy
Student-centered Learning, Blended Learning and Connected Research and Education
The INGENIUM Alliance organises Staff Academy workshops to share, transfer and showcase selected innovative pedagogical methodologies from the partner Universities. Each Staff Academy event has ten individual sessions, lasting an hour, with one from each partner university.
The Staff Academy sessions are based on proposals submitted by Alliance staff implementing innovative learning methodologies or wishing to develop them in cooperation with INGENIUM partners.
Staff Academy is held twice a year. Each event will be hosted by one of the Alliance Universities within the 10 Days of INGENIUM framework.
Staff Academy workshops allow participants to gain and enhance their teaching and facilitation skills by providing additional time for hands-on learning and interaction with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and fields. It will also provide an appropriate framework for knowledge sharing and transfer, offer new networking opportunities, and open avenues for enhanced cooperation with the Alliance.
This edition of Staff Academy held by the Medical University of Sofia will focus on topics like:
- Effective student-centred learning equips students with knowledge and other professional and personal development skills. For example, collaborative learning, flipped classrooms, creative teaching methods, and reflective assessment.
- Connecting research, education, and working life promptly utilises research findings in education, bringing education and research closer together through challenge-based, work-based, and other methodologies. For example, simulations based on cutting-edge research, innovative work placements or internships, or new pedagogical theory or practice advances.
- Blended learning, or hybrid teaching, combines traditional classroom-based education with other innovative learning methodologies, including distance, digital, or work-based learning. This might include, for example, online learning environments, digital tools, and good blended teaching practices.
