What opportunities for international teaching and learning can arise from being part of a European University? INGENIUM at the HKA Teaching Day
On 8 November 2023, a „Teaching Day“ took place at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA). Representatives from across the entire university community were invited by the strategy team “Attractive study programs and modern forms of learning and teaching” to exchange ideas about the future of teaching and learning at HKA. During the 4-hour event in the university’s main auditorium, students, lecturers and members of the university’s non-teaching staff formed small, interactive discussion groups to talk about issues that are central to HKA’s future development, such as AI tools, classroom design, or cross-campus cooperation. One of the groups focused on internationalization, with a special emphasis on the role that the new INGENIUM European University will play in the future development of HKA.
At the poster session that was part of the event, HKA colleagues were very interested to learn how the INGENIUM European Campus (IEC) will benefit them in various different ways. One of the posters presented by the INGENIUM team highlighted how the alliance will promote the internationalization of teaching and learning at HKA at a European level through its support for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiatives with their intercultural, application-oriented and trans-disciplinary approach.
The HKA Teaching Day proved to be an excellent forum to present to the entire university community how HKA can be transformed through its new status as a European University, not only, but in particular in the field of international teaching and learning.
