From UP2Green to UP2Learn: A Green Chemistry Learning Lab for Research-Based Education

UniversityINGENIUM European University
Field of StudyNatural Sciences
Description

this INGENIUM micro-credential that provides advanced training in green chemistry and sustainable chemical processes, focusing on the valorization of waste streams (e.g., CO₂, lignin, glycerol) through catalytic and materials-based approaches. Building on the research outcomes of the INGENIUM project UP2Green, the course integrates chemistry, materials science, and environmental process engineering into a research-based learning experience.
Participants will develop knowledge on the design and application of metal nanoparticle catalysts, CO₂ capture and reuse, and sustainable process integration. The course combines asynchronous modules with joint interdisciplinary sessions, enabling learners to apply scientific concepts to real case studies. It prepares doctoral students and early-career professionals to address challenges in the green and circular economy, enhancing both research and professional competences.

Study Materials

The course is delivered through a virtual learning platform that supports asynchronous content, live online sessions, and collaborative interaction. Teaching materials include recorded lectures, digital slides, scientific datasets, and case studies developed by the partner universities.
Additional resources include tools for video recording, editing, and subtitling, ensuring high-quality and accessible digital content. The platform enables communication through discussion forums and synchronous sessions, supporting interaction between students and instructors.
Students benefit from structured guidance, including asynchronous learning materials, dedicated live sessions for clarification, and feedback on assignments and final projects. These resources ensure accessibility, flexibility, and effective support for an international and interdisciplinary audience.

Prerequisites to Enrol

Admission is open to applicants holding a university degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental engineering, or related fields.
In the case that applications exceed the number of available places, selection will be based on the following criteria:
Academic background and coherence with the thematic focus of the course;
Level of study (priority may be given to doctoral students and postgraduate candidates);
Professional or research experience in areas related to green chemistry, sustainability, or process engineering;
Motivation and potential for applying the acquired competences in academic, industrial, or environmental contexts.
Basic knowledge of chemistry is required. Proficiency in English at a level sufficient to follow technical content is recommended.

The enrolment fee is €35. Payment instructions will be sent once your place has been confirmed. Fees are non-refundable, except when the course is cancelled or the University is  responsible for the inability to provide the course.
