Become an INGENIUM Ambassador
- Create a student-led communication project and show INGENIUM through the experiences, people and moments around you.
Tell INGENIUM's story in your own voice
INGENIUM is experienced differently by every student who takes part in a mobility, a BIP, an event or another opportunity across the Alliance. As an INGENIUM Ambassador, you’ll help tell those stories from a student perspective, bringing forward the people, moments and experiences that make INGENIUM meaningful on your campus. Throughout the academic year, you’ll develop your project in close collaboration with the INGENIUM office at your university.

What will you do as an Ambassador?
You’ll propose a communication project and develop it throughout the academic year together with your local INGENIUM office. You can create student-facing content, represent INGENIUM at events and activities, or combine both.
Your local INGENIUM office will help you shape the project, plan your activities and prepare your work for publication on local or Alliance-wide channels.
What comes with being an INGENIUM Ambassador
A funded exchange visit
Three days of job shadowing at another partner university, with up to €1,000 per team member for travel, accommodation and subsistence.
Visibility & credit
A profile with your photograph and a short first-person biography on the INGENIUM website, and authorship credit on everything you produce.
Certificate and digital badge
A badge awarded by the Secretariat on completion, which you can add to LinkedIn and to a personal portfolio.
Academic recognition
Where your university and study plan allow it, as a training or extracurricular activity carrying credit.
What could you show other students about INGENIUM?
Propose the formats that best fit your own skills and your university’s activities. A single project may combine several of them across the edition, or concentrate on one that you can sustain at a high standard.

Projects may equally include activities in person: representing INGENIUM at student fairs, open days and welcome events, giving peer-to-peer presentations, taking part in visits to secondary schools, and proposing promotional events on campus. Work of this kind usually generates material that can be published afterwards.

Who can apply
You can apply on your own or with one other student from your university. The call is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students who will remain enrolled throughout the project period.
Previous experience in communication, journalism or content creation is welcome, but it isn’t required. Bring your ideas, your voice and your way of telling a story.
How to apply
Submit one online application per project.
In the form, tell us:
- what you want your Ambassador project to do;
- which formats and activities you plan to use;
- how often you plan to produce or organise them;
- who is part of your team;
- whether you are available for the exchange visit and your preferred destinations.
You’ll also need one sample of your communication work. It can be something you have already created or a short piece made especially for this application. Just share a link that the evaluation panel can access.
Have questions before you apply? You can contact your local INGENIUM office to discuss your idea or check anything you are unsure about.
More about the call
A team that has delivered its agreed project plan travels to another INGENIUM partner university for a short stay of three days of job shadowing alongside the communication staff of the host INGENIUM office, observing and supporting the daily communication work of another partner, and covering an INGENIUM activity taking place there whenever the calendar allows it.
The visit produces a final deliverable of its own, a piece of content co-developed by the visiting team and the host communication staff, covering the story of INGENIUM at the host university, the activity documented on site, or both. It is published once, as a joint piece of the two offices, using the collaborative posting formats of each platform where they exist so that it appears on the channels of both universities at the same time.
In the application form you state whether you would be available to travel and, if so, your three preferred destinations among the other nine INGENIUM partners. Each university funds the visits of its own selected teams in the order of its panel’s ranking until its travel budget is used up, and the Secretariat then matches destinations against the availability of each host office.
A project may also be completed without the visit, where you state in the application form that you would not be available to travel, or where exceptional circumstances prevent a visit that had been foreseen. You remain a full INGENIUM Ambassador and keep every element of the recognition.
The funding attached to a project is dedicated entirely to the exchange visit, and covers up to €1,000 per team member, so up to €1,000 for a project carried out by one student and up to €2,000 for a team of two. There is no separate budget to produce content during the edition, since the project relies on accessible tools, such as your own devices, together with the templates and guidance provided by the INGENIUM Communication Network.
Applicants do not receive this funding directly. It is managed by the INGENIUM office of the students’ home university, which executes the travel and accommodation expenditure in line with the approved amount, the eligibility rules and the funds available.
Eligible costs are limited to the return travel to the assigned destination university, the accommodation required for the three days of job shadowing and the travel days around them, and subsistence during the stay, together with any other cost directly tied to the visit and eligible under Erasmus+ European Universities rules.
Applications are reviewed by the university through which the project is presented. At each participating partner, the local INGENIUM office convenes an evaluation panel bringing together its representative on the INGENIUM Steering Committee, a member of the INGENIUM Student Board and a colleague from the INGENIUM Communication Network, so that each proposal is weighed against the resources and the communication priorities of the university that will host the project. All panels apply the same three criteria.
| Criterion | What the panel looks for | Max. |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well the proposed project answers the aim of giving INGENIUM a first-person student-facing voice, and how clearly it connects with the priorities of the Alliance and of the European Universities Initiative. | 30 |
| Quality | The clarity and feasibility of the project plan, the realism of its cadence across the edition, the originality and storytelling potential of the ideas and of the sample of communication work, and the strength of the working relationship proposed with the local INGENIUM office. | 40 |
| Impact | The reach the project can achieve among students at the home university, whether online or in person, its potential to travel to the central INGENIUM channels, and its capacity to leave behind a body of first-person material that the Alliance can continue to draw on afterwards. | 30 |
A minimum overall standard is required for a project to be eligible for funding. Where the assessment of two projects is close, the Quality criterion serves as the first point of comparison. The decision of each panel is final for the projects presented through its university. Each office reports its result to the Secretariat, which confirms that the minimum standard has been applied and constitutes the cohort for the edition.
