Learning Outcomes

After completing this micro-credential, students will: Knowledge Understand the fundamental concepts, principles and evidence base of health promotion. Recognise the determinants of health and how they influence individual and community wellbeing. Skills Apply health-promotion models and strategies in practical, real-world contexts. Design and plan basic health-promotion interventions tailored to specific populations. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups to encourage healthy behaviours. Competences Demonstrate the ability to critically analyse health needs and select appropriate promotion strategies. Collaborate with other health professionals to support holistic health-promotion initiatives. Use scientific evidence to justify decisions and actions in health-promotion practice.

Contents and Methods

The course covers:
Health promotion: concept and evolution
Social determinants of health
Modifiable risk factors
Behavioural theories (Health Belief Model, I-Change Model, Transtheoretical Model of Health Behaviour, Behaviour Change Wheel)

Teaching methods combine participatory lectures, problem-solving in real-world contexts and the flipped-classroom approach. Sessions run from 20 to 24 July 2026, 9:00 to 12:00, on site at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. In the afternoons, students work in groups on the planned remote activities, searching for information and developing well-reasoned solutions to the proposed problems.

Type of Assessment

Graded task: a group presentation of a justified health-promotion strategy based on one of the models studied (minimum pass mark 5 out of 10). The strategy must include all the stages of the chosen theoretical model and be feasible, ethical and realistic.

Prerequisites to Enrol

The course is limited to 20 participants. Applicants must hold the qualifications indicated under Target Group. If the number of applications exceeds the available places, an interview will be held to assess applicants' motivation and the fit of their curriculum vitae to the focus of the micro-credential.
