Research can lead to new ideas, technologies and solutions – but when does a research result become intellectual property, and what should you consider before sharing or publishing it?

This INGENIUM online session provides researchers and students with a practical introduction to the essentials of intellectual property (IP). You will learn about different forms of IP protection, including patents, utility models, copyright, trademarks and designs, and explore how scientific publishing and IP protection can work together.

The session will also introduce the key differences between European Patents and the Unitary Patent and give you the opportunity to meet the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and IP teams from across the INGENIUM network.

No prior knowledge of intellectual property is required. The session is designed to help you recognise when IP might be relevant to your research, understand the basics and know where to turn for further support.
