INGENIUM Sustainability Week: A call for action
From 19 to 24 October, students and staff across the ten universities of the INGENIUM European University will come together for INGENIUM Sustainability Week, a week packed with interactive activities.
“As the science is clear and the news is overwhelming, there is a lot we can do. We can all make a difference and be part of the solution. The future is ours to shape, so join us this week” says Project Leader Christine Mulder.
Together with INGENIUM colleagues who work with entrepreneurship and inclusion, we offer a week that combines online and local activities that encourage participants to learn, collaborate and take action on sustainability challenges.
Engage Online with Sustainability Challenges
A highlight of the programme is the alliance-wide online panel discussions “Is sustainability always inclusive and is inclusion always sustainable?” and “sustainable global engagement”, where students and staff will explore how universities can build meaningful international partnerships while balancing sustainability, inclusion and mobility. Participants will discuss how students can become co-creators and ambassadors in global collaborations, and when digital or hybrid alternatives can complement international travel. There will also be an online webinar on biomimicry & regenerative entrepreneurship education hosted by MTU.
Another major activity taking place across at the alliance is the Climate Fresk, a collaborative workshop that helps participants understand climate change through an engaging, science-based learning experience. Universities across Europe will host local Climate Fresk sessions, connecting participants through a shared sustainability challenge.
Events across the Alliance
The week also features a wide variety of local events. Students can test their problem-solving skills in sustainability-themed escape rooms in Romania, Germany and Crete, take part in biodiversity game nights, join sustainability simulations, and explore practical solutions to environmental challenges.
In Italy, students and external stakeholders will come together for a workshop on ten years of collaboration between universities and businesses in support of sustainable development. And a workshop will be organized about the Amnesty International’s 2026 report on human rights violations. During this session testimonies from students from war zones are presented and the University’s policy for welcoming and supporting them will be discussed.
Other activities include clothes swaps, CO₂ awareness games, research and innovation seminars, workshops on climate change and urban development, and events showcasing sustainable living practices within local communities.
Building tomorrow together: creating sustainable businesses and environmentally friendly, inclusive communities
“We wanted to create a programme that makes sustainability engaging and relevant,” says Christine Mulder, project leader for Sustainability Week. “Participants will not just talk about sustainability, they will experience it through workshops, games, discussions and collaborative activities that inspire action and give hope.”.
Whether participating online or on campus, students and staff will have the opportunity to explore sustainability in a hands-on and collaborative way, while helping to build a stronger and more connected INGENIUM community. In the INGENIUM Events Calendar you can find all the local and online activities. Welcome to join!
