Students from 10 European universities dealt with the topics of language, culture and diversity at the INGENIUM Junior Summer School
The INGENIUM European University kicked off with its first big event – 10 Days of INGENIUM – during 13 – 17 and 19 – 23 June 2023. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) in Germany hosted the first Junior Summer School on Language, Culture and Diversity during 13 – 17 June. To celebrate the beginning of this fruitful alliance, representatives of the 10 partner universities planted a tree on HKA Campus.
At the Junior Summer School, three students from each partner university, supported by mentors, dealt with the topics of language, culture and diversity. In addition to the summer school, the week’s programme included meetings of the steering committee and various working groups of the alliance, which were attended by professors from all partner universities.
Crossing Borders, HKA’s traditional study abroad fair, was also scheduled for this week in order to benefit from the presence of students from nine European universities, all of them possible study abroad destinations for HKA students.
The last of the five INGENIUM days coincided with HKA’s Open Campus Day on Saturday, 17 June. On this occasion, both the results of the Summer School were presented and the representatives of the nine European partners were available to the university community in a designated INGENIUM tent as contacts for possible joint projects.
Prof. Dr. Angelika Altmann-Dieses, HKA’s Vice-President for Academic and International Affairs, was excited about the exchange with colleagues from the alliance. As a member of the INGENIUM Academic Council, she plays a significant role in the strategic orientation of the alliance. “I am proud that HKA is hosting the first ever INGENIUM Days and thus offering students and staff of the INGENIUM European University the opportunity to come together in Karlsruhe for the first, but certainly not the last time.”
The 10 Days of INGENIUM was continued with a Senior Summer School for PhD students and Master students interested in doctoral studies at the Università degli Studi “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti – Pescara.
