Learning Outcomes

This course addresses a
growing dichotomy between the care offered by healthcare
professionals and the care expected by patients. This disconnect
leads to a gradual loss of the therapeutic alliance and a medical
wandering
in which patients increasingly turn to unconventional treatments.

Contents and Methods

The goal is to train health students to identify the objective and subjective factors that influence health-related quality of life (a holistic approach), as well as the differences between patients and health professionals regarding their expectations for healthy living (beliefs), and to show them how to address these issues through an integrative approach.

Students are also trained in the use of holistic tools for assessing health-related quality of life and in applying this approach in practice.

Details are provided in the course syllabus.
