INGENIUM Linguistic Tandems – Staff Edition

Would you like to practice a language, discover another culture, and connect with a colleague from another INGENIUM university?
The INGENIUM Language Network (ILANET) is launching the first edition of INGENIUM Linguistic Tandems for Staff, bringing together both teaching and administrative staff from across the Alliance.
Whether you are a lecturer, researcher, international officer, librarian, project manager, administrative officer, technician, student services staff member, or work in any other role at your university, you are invited to take part!
How does it work?
You will be matched with a colleague from another INGENIUM university based on the languages you would like to practice and your preferences.
Together, you will have the opportunity to:
- Practice a language in a relaxed and informal setting
- Discover another culture and university context
- Build connections with colleagues across INGENIUM
- Exchange experiences about your work and everyday life
- Develop your intercultural communication skills
You don’t need to be a language teacher or have a perfect level of the language you want to practice. The aim is to learn from each other and communicate together.
Who can participate?
All INGENIUM staff members!
The programme is open to:
- Teaching & academic staff
Lecturers, researchers, professors and other academic staff. - Administrative & professional staff
International relations, student services, libraries, communication, HR, project management, technical and support services, and all other administrative and professional roles.
What should you expect?
The programme will run for approximately 6–8 weeks. Once you have been matched, you and your tandem partner will decide together how and when to meet.
There is no formal classroom, no teacher and no exam. Your tandem is a space for conversation, exchange and mutual learning.
You will be provided with a list of discussions topics to help you get started. You can also talk about your language, your university, your work, your culture or simply get to know each other.
