INGENIUM’s CBPT Joint Master’s Set to Receive the Joint European Degree Label

The ARACIS Council has approved the award of the Joint European Degree Label to INGENIUM’s Joint Master’s Programme in Chemical and Biochemical Process Technology (CBPT). This places INGENIUM among the first European university alliances to achieve this recognition for a joint programme.

The approval marks a major achievement for the three universities delivering CBPT: Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași in Romania, the University of Oviedo in Spain, and the University of Rouen Normandie in France and an important milestone in the development of integrated, cross-border higher education in Europe. For prospective students, it provides a clear signal of the quality and international learning experience behind the programme.

What does the label recognise

The Joint European Degree Label recognises joint programmes that meet common European criteria for academic cooperation, programme delivery and the European dimension of students’ education.

CBPT’s quality has been assessed by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS) under the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes. Building on that positive evaluation, a dedicated external review confirmed that CBPT meets all applicable criteria for the label.

The recognition therefore reflects concrete features of the programme, including its jointly designed curriculum, shared quality assurance, integrated mobility and support for students across partner universities.

What does this mean for students

CBPT brings together chemical engineering, biotechnology and environmental sustainability in a two-year, 120-ECTS programme taught entirely in English. Students study in Romania, Spain and France before completing a master’s thesis at a partner university of their choice.

For students choosing their next academic step, the label highlights:

  • Quality assessed against European criteria: shared academic standards and coordinated arrangements for teaching, learning and student support.
  • The expertise of three universities: complementary teaching and research strengths within one integrated curriculum.
  • International experience built into the degree: mobility across three countries, with opportunities to develop intercultural and language skills.
  • A jointly awarded qualification: a single master’s degree awarded by all three partner universities, accompanied by a joint Diploma Supplement.

A milestone for INGENIUM

This achievement reflects the collective work of the academic and support teams who developed CBPT across three national higher education systems.

For INGENIUM, this milestone sets a benchmark for the joint programmes to follow. While for prospective students, the label is a mark of quality, offering confidence in the education and international experience they can expect from CBPT.
