Call for INGENIUM PhD Mobility and Co-Supervision Scholarships is now open!

PhD candidates from INGENIUM Universities, from any discipline area, are invited to apply for the 2026 edition of the INGENIUM PhD Mobility and Co-Supervision Scholarships.

The programme aims to support doctoral mobility across the Alliance while fostering structured and enduring doctoral co-supervision arrangements among INGENIUM institutions.

Eligible projects must include a research stay at an INGENIUM university other than the candidate’s home institution. Stays may last up to four months and should be linked to an ongoing research project or to a research line that the applicant intends to develop together with colleagues from the Alliance.

Successful applicants will receive funding from their home university, with financial support of up to €1,000 per month for a maximum duration of four months (up to €4,000 per project).

The grant may be combined with other funding opportunities available to PhD candidates, including Erasmus grants and doctoral fellowships. Funding is primarily intended to cover travel costs, accommodation, and living expenses.

Supporting collaboration across the Alliance

The initiative aims to strengthen academic connections among INGENIUM institutions and encourage the development of structured doctoral co-supervision pathways across the Alliance.
Priority will be given to projects with the potential to evolve into formal co-supervision agreements. Applicants are therefore encouraged to identify research teams and supervisors whose expertise can contribute to a sustainable framework for cooperation beyond the funded mobility period.

To support the identification of suitable academic partners, applicants can consult the Alliance’s lists of available co-supervisors (see links provided in the Call below), available on the INGENIUM Doctoral Ecosystems webpage, as well as research groups and laboratories willing to host doctoral researchers. In addition, candidates may use CONNECT , the research-matching platform developed by “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, to explore potential research collaborations and establish new contacts across the Alliance.

Application deadline

Applications must be submitted by 11 September 2026 at 12:00 pm (CEST).

To apply, candidates must email their completed application form and required attachments to irsb@ingenium-university.eu. Please ensure that the INGENIUM contact email addresses of all partner institutions involved in the co-supervision are included in CC.
